SP retains Bilari and Jangipura seats in by-election

Lucknow: The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) retained both Bilari seat of Moradabad and Jangipur of Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh in the by-elections.

SP leader Faheem Irfan won the Bilari set by amassing 90,464 votes in his favour while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate could collect only 83,371 votes.

The Bilari seat was earlier represented by SP MLA Irfan Khan, who recently died in a road accident.

Kismati Devi, a SP candidate won the Jangipura seat by defeating BJP candidate Kuwar Ramesh Singh.

She gleaned 82,316 votes in her favour.
