Sheila Dikshit calls Rahul Gandhi immature; says he needs time

New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit accepted on Friday that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was still not mature and needed some more time to be groomed into a full fledged politician.

During an interview with a leading daily, she was questioned why Congress has been wiped out of several states despite aggressive campaign by Rahul Gandhi, to which she replied, "The Indian politics has changed a lot over the years and Congress is trying to adjust itself. And please remember, Rahul is still not mature. He is still in his 40s and his age does not allow him to be matured."

She, however, claimed that Rahul is known for his outspoken approach in his rallies and he is the only politician, who has spoken about farmers in Uttar Pradesh.

"Rahul has come a long way and he is not yet the prime minister. The opportunity will come sooner or later but he is working really hard to turn things around. He is holding public meetings and has developed an image of speaking his mind," Sheila Dikshit said.

Rahul has been active in Uttar Pradesh in the recent times where his party has formed an alliance with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party.

Sheila Dikshit was earlier named Congress' CM candidate in UP but after the formation of alliance, she withdrew her name. She, however, has assured that she was ready to campaign hard for Congress.

She further claimed that SP-Congress alliance has strengthened her party in Uttar Pradesh.
