New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Saturday, quashed a report flashed by news agency IANS which quoted the party's national President, Amit Shah saying that 'the construction work for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will begin before the 2019 general elections'.
Telangana BJP MLC, N Ramchander Rao said that he was present at the meeting and Shah never said so. He said, "Responding to a question by a party worker, he said the matter is sub judice. He said personally even he wants the court's decision to come before 2019 elections."
BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao also rejected the IANS report and termed it 'incorrect'. He said, "This report about Shri Ram Janmabhoomi dispute is completely incorrect. In yesterday's tour Amit Shah ji has not expressed anything of this sort."
Earlier, a report published by IANS had said that construction of a grand Ram temple at Ayodhya will begin before the 2019 elections.

It said that Shah, in a meeting of party leaders here, said that steps will be taken to clear the decks for launching construction of the temple before the polls.
“Considering the developments, I believe that construction of Ram temple will begin before the coming general elections,” BJP National Executive member Perala Sekharjee quoted Shah as saying.
Shah also said his party workers to prepare strategies to bring the party to power in the state.
