Not SP, it is the defeat of Akhilesh Yadav's ego: Shivpal Yadav

Lucknow: Accepting the crushing defeat of Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the senior party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav attributed the party rout to the king-sized ego of the Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Choosing the occasion to launch an attack on Akhilesh afresh,a much-humiliated Uncle did not mince his words to blast the former. "Akhilesh Yadav had insulted his father and SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav by removing him from the party's chief post. He had insulted me on various occasions. This is the defeat of his ego," Shivpal commented.

Thanking the people of his constituency, Shivpal said, "I thank the people of Jaswant Nagar for my victory. Rest we accept people's mandate."

It may be mentioned that Shivpal had earlier announced to float his own party after the declaration of results. He, however, has kept mum on the issue now.

SP-Congress alliance is staring at the worst-possible electoral reverse in the state with the party leading on just 67 seats out of the 403 assembly constituencies. On the other hand, the trends suggest that BJP is heading towards two-third majority in Uttar Pradesh with about 300 seats.
