Saharanpur: Prohibition in Bihar has led to jump in sales of liquor in several states including far away Punjab and Haryana and created an additional source of income for liquor mafia and smugglers.

Since foreign liquor is cheaper in these two bordering states they have become a new smugglers’ destination. It is evident from the fact that liquor bottles worth as much as Rs one crore were seized at UP-Bihar border on Friday.

On inquiry it was revealed that the truck on which these bottles were loaded was booked for Patna, capital of Bihar. Two persons have been arrested in this connection. Both of them, hailed from “daru-free” state.

The bottles were loaded in 1000 boxes in Haryana. These boxes contained high price whiskey bottles.
