Lucknow**: The heatwave in Uttar Pradesh is wreaking havoc, and Lucknow is no exception. The intense sunlight and scorching heat have created a lockdown-like situation in the city, with the sun seemingly raining fire. Daytime temperatures have soared to 45-46 degrees Celsius. The streets of the city resemble a lockdown scenario, with the extreme heat forcing people to stay indoors. Only those with essential work are venturing outside, leaving the streets deserted during the afternoon.

The situation is so severe that the hot winds are troubling people both day and night. Nights are also unbearably warm, making it difficult for people to sleep. As early as 8 AM, the sun's heat becomes oppressive. Normally bustling streets of Lucknow are eerily quiet, a stark contrast visible in recent photographs.

In response to the heat, the municipal corporation has arranged for water sprinkling on roads and set up water drinking facilities at various locations. The municipal corporation has also urged residents to minimize their outdoor activities during peak sunlight hours, and if venturing out is necessary, to take appropriate measures to protect themselves from the heat.
