Uttar Pradesh government suspends IAS Rajiv Kumar

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Rajiv Kumar, a 1983-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, after he was jailed in Noida corruption case.

Rajiv Kumar, who was convicted by CBI court in illegal plot allotment case of 1995, had surrendered on April and was immediately sent to jail. He has been jailed for 3 years.

In fact, the CBI , probing the case, had filed chargesheet in 2005 and had convicted him. Till now, he was on the bail.

Earlier, another senior IAS officer of UP Pradeep Shukla was under suspension for a long time following his jail term in National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam.

The decision to suspend Rajiv Kumar was taken by a committee headed by the Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan. The committee will further deliberate on the future course of action against him.
