Saharanpur Violence: Man, who sustained bullet injuries, dies

Saharanpur: A man, who was shot at during inter-caste clashes in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital here on Saturday.

Pradeep was shot at by unidentified miscreants at Janta road area on May 23.

He belonged to Rajput community in Saharanpur's Aswali village.

Pradeep's body was cremated here today in presence of tight security. District Magistrate PK Pandey, SSP Babloo Kumar and former MLA Mahaveer Rana were also present.

Saharanpur violence began on May 5, when a man was killed, several injured and around 25 homes set ablaze in inter-caste clashes in Shabbirpur village.

On June 8, the mastermind of the Saharanpur clashes was arrested from Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Uttar Pradesh Police.

Chandrashekhar alias Ravana, head of Bhim Sena, was taken on a transit remand.

Meanwhile, a report sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) by the Yogi Adityanath government charged the Bhim Army responsible behind the Saharanpur violence.

The report suggested it was a well-planned conspiracy that caused caste-based violence in Saharanpur. The report blames Bhim Army founder Chandrashekhar Azad for “playing a key role in instigating the violence”.
