PM Modi pays obeisance at Sant Ravidas Temple, eats langar

Varanasi: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reached his Parliamentary constituency late Sunday night and stayed at DLW Guest House, paid obeisance at the Sant Ravidas Temple in Seer Govardhan on the occasion Sant Ravidas Jayanti.

He also ate the langar at temple

Before that PM Modi tweeted: “I bow to Guru Ravidas ji on his Jayanti. His thoughts & emphasis on social reform & equality transformed our society & enriched it greatly.

The Prime Minister stayed here for about 15 minutes and then he had gone to attend the centenary convocation function of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Modi is the fourth Prime minister to attend the programme. Earlier Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Manmohan Singh had also attended the BHU convocation.

After Modi visit to Sant Ravidas temple for 15 minutes, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will also visit the temple in Seer Govardhan. It will be Kejriwal's first Varanasi visit after losing Lok Sabha election to Modi in 2014.
