Najma Heptulla, GM Siddeshwara resign from Modi's cabinet

New Delhi: Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reshuffled his cabinet and added fresh faces in it, Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla and Minister of State for Heavy Industries G.M. Siddeshwara served their resignations from the Council of Ministers on Tuesday.

On the advice of the PM, President Pranab Mukherjee accepted their resignations.

Highlights:

  • Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who was a junior minister under Heptulla, has been given the Independent charge of the Minority Affairs Ministry
  • Babul Supriyo has replaced Siddeshwara
  • Modi inducted 19 new ministers and elevated one to the cabinet rank
