Jat stir: section 144 imposed, paramilitary deployed in Haryana

Chandigarh: The Haryana government and the state police have braced themselves to deal with the Jat stir.

Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed on the orders of state government in sensitive areas of Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonipat, Jind, Panipat and Kaithal districts.

Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has also been clamped in some parts of Sonipat district.

  • The Jat community has given a 15-day ultimatum to the Haryana government for implementation of reservation.
  • The Jat agitation being renewed after the Punjab and Haryana High Court stayed the notification for quotas to the Jat.
  • The call for the renewed agitation has been given by the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS).
