Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has announced a New Year bonanza for state government employees ahead of UP Assembly elections. The government on Tuesday decided to implement recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.

According to the official sources, the decision would benefit 16 lakh state government employees and six lakh pensioners.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the government has taken decision regarding pay committee recommendations. "It will benefit lakhs of government employees. It will put additional burden of crores of rupees on the state exchequer," he stated.

The decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by the Uttar Pradesh CM who announced that the pay recommendations would be implemented from January 1, 2017.
