UP: 550 under-performing PWD employees to face action

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is all set to take action against 550 non-performing employees of the Public Works Department (PWD), while 273 officers will be given forced retirement after they failed in the screening process.

Apart from showing exit doors to Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers, the department has demanded departmental enquiry against 286 officers in its report submitted to the government.

A total of 392 executive engineers underwent the screening process and three of them, after being found non-performing, have been given compulsory retirement notice. Similarly, 78 out of the 351 assistant engineers were found under performing and have been asked to take early retirement. Out of 151 junior engineers, 116 have been found non-performing and have been given compulsory retirement notice.

Out of a total of 89 junior engineers (mechanical), 71 were found under performing. Out of these, 55 have been given forced retirement while 16 have been terminated.
