Attack on army camp: 7 jawans martyred, 3 terrorists killed

Terrorists launch suicide attack on Army camp in J&K's Nagrota

New Delhi: Seven army men, including two officers, were martyred while three terrorists were gunned down in the exchange of fire in Nagrota of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Three militants targeted an Army base near White Knight Corps in Nagrota at around 5.30 am.

"The terrorists forced their entry into the officers mess complex by throwing grenade at the Army unit stationed ," said army's northern command.

Army has evacuated the region and all schools have been ordered to remain shut. Two army men sustained injuries in the attack and were shifted to the military hospital in Satwari.

The hostage like condition occurred when terrorists entered two buildings in which army men and families including women and children were there. Indian Army, however, carried out a successful rescue operation in which 12 soldiers, two women and two children were rescued.

Sadly, rescue operation left one more army officer and two jawans martyred. The bodies of three terrorists have been recovered.
