SC orders auction of Sahara's Aamby Valley in Maharashtra

New Delhi: An angry Supreme Court on Monday ordered for auctioning of properties of Sahara India group in Aamby Valley in Maharashtra and asked its chief Subrata Roy to be present in person during the next hearing of the case next week.

The Court got annoyed because the group had failed to deposit little over Rs 5000 crores to the Refund Fund by Monday ( today).

The Court also asked him to furnish details about its properties in the Valley within next 48 hours. Simultaneously, it has asked Security and Exchange Board of India or Sebi to take necessar steps n this regard after receiving the relevant papers.

The value of the group's properties was estimated at Rs 34,000 crores in September ,2012.

The Court has also asked to name assets which have not been auctioned so far to repay the money invested in the company by people in different parts of the country.

Roy had been sent behind bars in this connection and was released on parole in May last following death of his mother. The parole was given for four months which was extended later by the Court.
