Sahara chief Subrata Roy passes away in 75

Sahara India said in a statement that Roy had been suffering from metastatic stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes. He took his last breath on 14 November 2023 at 10.30 pm and cause of death was cardiorespiratory arrest.

Well known businessman Subrata Roy Sahara died on Tuesday night in Mumbai at the age of 75. Sahara family head Subrata Roy had been seriously ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Mumbai.

On Wednesday, his mortal remains will be brought to Sahara city in Lucknow, where his last rites will be performed.

Sahara India said in a statement that Roy had been suffering from metastatic stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes. He took his last breath on 14 November 2023 at 10.30 pm and cause of death was cardiorespiratory arrest.

He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute (KDAH) since November 12.

On the demise of Subrata Roy, Bollywood actor Anupam Kher said- "Sad to know about the demise of Subrata Roy ji! Met him several times on different occasions! He was always ready to help. May his soul rest in peace! om Shanti!"

A case had been registered in Patna High Court against Sahara India for not paying people's money for many years. People had invested their money in many schemes of the company. In this case, the Supreme Court had stayed the arrest order of Patna High Court. Also, orders were given to maintain status quo regarding any further action against him.

A similar case against Subrata Roy was registered in the Supreme Court. He was out on bail. At the same time, regarding the return of investors' money, Sahara India claims that it has deposited the entire amount with SEBI.

Subrata Roy was born on June 10, 1948 in Araria, Bihar. His father was Sudhir Chandra Roy and mother was Chhavi. He did mechanical engineering from Government Technical Institute, Gorakhpur. Subrata Roy met his wife Swapna through a common friend in Kolkata. Subrata Roy is survived by his wife and two sons, Shushanto Roy and Seemanto Roy.
