New Delhi: India is on a gradual pace of becoming one significant pool of multiple talents, elites of which are applauded every year with Padma awards which are further conferred in three main categories namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday accorded Padma Shri, Padma Vibhshan and Padma Bhushan at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present at the event.
Among the list of dignitaries were Virat Kohli for redefining excellence in his field of cricket, Olympian Sakshi Mallik for delivering brilliance in her field of wrestling, Paralympics gold medalist Mariyappan Thangavelu, Captain of India’s blind cricket team Shekhar Naik, the milestone of culinary exceptions Sanjeev Kapoor and several others.
The proceedings of the ceremony are still taking place at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
