NGT puts cap on Vaishno Devi visitors | Only 50,000 devotees in a day

New Delhi: A cap has been put by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on the number of devotees who can visit Vaishno Devi in a day.

The tribunal has limited the number of people visiting the shrine to 50,000. According to the NGT, additional number of devotees will be stopped in Katra town of Jammu and Kashmir.

The construction works have also been put to a halt by the tribunal.

This step has been taken keeping in view the deteriorating condition of the environment at the place.

It is worth mentioning that Vaishno Devi Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu Goddess.

Llocated in Katra at the Trikuta Mountains within the state of Jammu and Kashmir, it is a manifestation of the Hindu Mother Goddess of MahaKali, MahaSaraswati and MahaLakshmi.
