Women's Day: We need more Women Leaders- Priyanka Chaturvedi in Rajya Sabha
Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi raised the issue of giving 50 percent reservation to women in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies. She said, 24 years ago, we had proposed to give 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament.
New Delhi: Today, International Women's Day is being celebrated all over the world. Issues of women's empowerment and equal rights are being discussed all over the country. This issue was also discussed in the Rajya Sabha during the budget session of Parliament on Monday.
First Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu said that International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political contributions and achievements of women all over the world as well as to honor their indomitable courage for those achievements.

At the same time, NCP MP in the Rajya Sabha Dr. Fauzia Khan said that many reports have revealed that more than 6 percent women are in the leadership role. She said, "We should think about it. We can make a start by giving 33 percent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. "
Apart from these, BJP MP Sonal Mansingh raised the issue of celebrating International Men's Day. He said in Rajya Sabha that International Men's Day should also be celebrated.

The first International Women's Day was celebrated in the year 1911 in Austria, Germany, Denmark and Switzerland. After this, this day was celebrated in many countries. But it was formally recognized in the year 1975, when the UN i.e. the United Nations started celebrating it.
