Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said that his government will come with a loan waiver scheme for farmers before October 31.

He said that as many as 1.07 crore farmers with less than five acre land holding will be benefited with the loan waiver scheme.

Speaking over the ongoing violence and agitation by farmers, Fadnavis said, "It was workers of political parties and not farmers who indulged in violence and road blockades."

Talking about the loan waiver, the CM asserted, "I can say with conviction that this will be the biggest loan waiver in Maharashtra's history."

It may be mentioned that farmers at various parts of the state are agitating to pitch for their demand of loan waiver on the lines of the Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP-led government's allies Shiv Sena and Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathana are supporting the agitation.
