Rahul Gandhi to Lead Road Blockade Bihar Bandh 9 July 2025

Bihar Bandh 9 July 2025: Bihar’s political landscape exploded on Monday morning with a dramatic turn of events. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a direct attack on the Election Commission during a press conference, raising serious concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. Calling it a “mockery of democracy,” he accused the Commission of working under the influence of the BJP. His statement has triggered a fresh political storm in the state, questioning not only the impartiality of the Commission but also warning that if corrective action is not taken, the upcoming assembly elections could be deeply compromised.

“The Election Commission Has Become a Post Office!” – Tejashwi’s Scathing Attack

Addressing the media, Tejashwi declared, “The Bihar Election Commission has been reduced to a mere post office—it no longer has the authority to speak or act independently.”

He pointed out that despite a meeting with the Commission on July 5, the assurances given then remain only on paper. Of particular concern, he said, are three contradictory directives issued by the Commission.

“One ad claims that people can fill enumeration forms without documents, while the official order says the opposite. Whose game is this?” Tejashwi asked.

“Why Is Aadhaar Not Valid? Is a Conspiracy Brewing?”

Tejashwi also slammed the rejection of Aadhaar cards in the revision process. “If Aadhaar is valid for creating a new voter ID, why is it deemed invalid for revising the voter list?”

He alleged that the Commission’s silence and contradictory instructions indicate the groundwork of a larger political conspiracy.

Tejashwi accused the Commission of trying to deliberately exclude marginalized groups, Dalits, backward classes, and Muslim voters from the process.

“It seems there’s a predetermined agenda—and the Election Commission is being used to implement it,” he claimed.

Rahul Gandhi Joins In – Congress Announces Road Blockade

Echoing Tejashwi’s tone, the Congress party launched its own attack on the Election Commission. The party has announced a ‘chakka jam’ (road blockade) across Bihar on July 9, in which Rahul Gandhi himself will participate.

Congress leaders claimed the Commission is completely confused and doesn’t know what to issue or retract anymore. “This is not a technical error—it’s a calculated attempt to hijack democracy. We won’t allow it,” declared the party’s state in-charge.

BJP Retaliates – “Tejashwi is Scaring Muslim Voters”

In response to the accusations from RJD and Congress, the BJP hit back hard. Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that the voter verification process is entirely routine and aimed only at identifying legitimate voters.

“RJD and Congress are deliberately scaring Muslim voters. They are spreading the false narrative that their votes will be canceled—which is completely untrue. These are the same people who spin fake narratives before every election.”

He further added that the matter is currently pending in the Supreme Court, and the Commission is acting according to the Court’s guidance.

“If anyone has an objection, the door to the courts is open. But stop spreading fear among voters,” he stated firmly.

Is the Election Commission Now a Political Battleground in an Election Year?

As preparations for the Bihar assembly elections intensify, the Election Commission has increasingly become the focal point of political attacks.

While RJD and Congress accuse it of being a puppet of the BJP, the BJP calls the revision exercise a necessary step toward transparency.

The big questions now are:

  • Will this voter list controversy affect the electoral atmosphere?
  • Can the Election Commission prove its impartiality?
  • And will the Tejashwi-Rahul alliance create a new political equation in Bihar?

One thing is certain—the electoral battle in Bihar has begun, and this time, it started with the voter list.

Where it ends, however, no one knows yet.
