Citing the prevailing unrest in Tamil Nadu, the government urged the Supreme Court for delaying its judgement on the legality of Jallikattu.

In the government's appeal to the top court bench led by Justice Dipak Misra, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi stated that there were several problems in the state following the interim ban on Jallikattu and that keeping the circumstances in the view the judgement should be delayed at least by a week.
