PM Modi to inaugurate IIT Bhilai today, campus spread over 400 acres

The foundation stone for the construction of IIT was laid by Prime Minister Modi himself on June 14, 2018. Its construction work started on 8 July 2020, which was completed in just 4 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a permanent campus of IIT Bhilai through virtual mode on Tuesday. This campus of IIT Bhilai is spread on an area of 400 acres. Its construction has cost a total of Rs 1090 crore.

The foundation stone for the construction of IIT was laid by Prime Minister Modi himself on June 14, 2018. Its construction work started on 8 July 2020, which was completed in just 4 years.

At present, the students of IIT Bhilai were studying temporarily in GEC College, Raipur. At present 700 students are studying here, who are doing Bachelor of Technology, Master of Technology, Master of Science and PhD.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Union Human Resource Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Durg MP Vijay Baghel will be present on the inauguration occasion of IIT Bhilai. Apart from this, Chairman of the Governing Board of IIT K. Venkatraman and Director IIT Professor Rajeev Prakash will also be present. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also virtually inaugurate the newly constructed buildings of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kawardha and Kurud.

The buildings constructed in Bhilai IIT are named after the major rivers and mountains of Chhattisgarh. This campus of IIT Bhilai is spread over 400 acres. Its construction has cost a total of Rs 1090 crore. It took four years to make it.

It is noteworthy that continuous work is being done to advance Chhattisgarh in the field of education. Earlier on Monday, Union Resource Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had also announced the development of 211 schools in the state under PM Shri Yojana.
