The Indian Air Force has announced the AFCAT 2026 recruitment, opening doors for young men and women who dream to serve the nation in uniform. The online applications for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2026 and NCC Special Entry begin from November 10. The last date to apply is December 9, 2025. Vacancies are open for Flying, Ground Duty (Technical), and Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches. Final year students can also apply if they can show their degree certificate later.
Who Can Apply and For Which Branch
For the Flying Branch, graduates and engineers between 20 to 24 years can apply. Those with a valid commercial pilot licence can apply till 26 years of age. You must be an Indian citizen, unmarried, and meet the basic fitness rules. The entry can be through CDS, NCC, or AFCAT. The NCC entry allows both men and women who hold an Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ Certificate with 60% in graduation and 50% in 10+2 Physics and Maths.
Ground Duty (Technical) and Non-Technical posts are open for candidates aged 20 to 26 years. Graduates with at least 60% marks can apply. You can choose from Administration, Logistics, Accounts, Meteorology, or Weapon Systems. For technical roles, you must have an engineering degree or equivalent qualification as mentioned by the IAF.
Pay Scale and Training Period
During the one-year training period, candidates will receive Rs 56,100 as stipend. Once commissioned as a Flying Officer, the salary will range from Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500 (Level 10 Pay) with an additional Rs 15,500 as Military Service Pay. Allowances depend on where you’re posted and your nature of duty. The package, when including allowances, can easily go beyond Rs 90,000 per month.
How the Selection Happens
The selection process starts with the online written exam followed by AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) testing. It happens in two stages — the first tests basic officer intelligence, and the second checks psychological, group, and personal interview performance. Those who clear both stages go for a detailed medical test. Final selection is done through an all-India merit list based on marks and medical fitness.
Why AFCAT 2026 Is a Big Chance
This recruitment is a major opportunity for those who missed earlier sessions. It opens chances for both men and women to serve as officers in one of the most respected forces in India. The IAF offers a strong career path, excellent pay, and a sense of pride that few jobs can match. If you meet the eligibility and love discipline, adventure, and responsibility, AFCAT 2026 might be your start to an Air Force life.
