Fake education board exposed in Shahjahanpur; FIR registered

Shahjahanpur: A fake education board was exposed here on Tuesday which was distributing Uttar Pradesh board equivalent mark sheets and was functioning in several other states of the country including Uttar Pradesh.

The fake board was being run from a partially destroyed building and had already distributed thousands of mark sheets to students.

Uttar Pradesh police's crime branch cell is on a lookout for five people including the board's chairman for running this swindle.

The board was being run under the name of Board of Secondary Education, Cantt, Uttar Pradesh. The fake board is also bring run in states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Nagaland, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.

The scam came into light when mark sheets of students from several states were sent to the fake board's office for verification. After receiving a complaint, the High Court took matter in cognizance and imposed a Rs 25 lakh fine on the board's alleged president Gajendra Nath, vice president Sushil Devi, secretary Rubal Kumar, vice secretary Dr Mohammed Aarif and treasurer Dashendra Singh Baghel.

After receiving HC's order, the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) lodged a complaint at the Cantt police station.
