Telangana assembly elections 2023-Gold, Hawala money seized

They have been arrested and identified as Chimpireddy Hanumanth Reddy, Mandala Sriramulu Reddy, Mandala Udaya Kumar Reddy and Bachala Prabhakar. All of them are residents of Hyderabad and neighboring district Rangareddy.

24 hours after the declaration of Telangana assembly elections, Hyderabad Police has seized alleged hawala money worth Rs 3.35 crore. Police said that the vehicles were being checked on Tuesday, when illegal cash was recovered from four people.

These people were taking it somewhere in a car. They have been arrested and identified as Chimpireddy Hanumanth Reddy, Mandala Sriramulu Reddy, Mandala Udaya Kumar Reddy and Bachala Prabhakar. All of them are residents of Hyderabad and neighboring district Rangareddy.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Joel Davis, the accused Hanumanth Reddy revealed that he, along with three other persons, used to collect hawala money and deliver it to various places in the twin cities. An office was also opened in Arora Colony of Banjara Hills a year ago for Hawala transactions. In this, Prabhakar used to get orders from customers for hawala money. On its instructions, Hanumanth Reddy, Sriramulu Reddy and Udaya Kumar Reddy used to collect and distribute hawala money from customers.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Davis said that a commission of Rs 25,000 was fixed for transferring Hawala amount of Rs 1 crore. Under the direction of Prabhakar, Hanumanth Reddy and other persons collected hawala money from Begum Bazaar, Nampally, Goshamahal and Jubilee Hills areas of the city. He was taking it to office.

Just after the announcement of the assembly election schedule, the police in Hyderabad and the rest of Telangana, in the first checking on Monday, the Hyderabad police also seized 7 kg of gold and 295 kg of silver in Abids area. Its price in the international market is Rs 7.50 crore.

Meanwhile, Telangana Police also seized Rs 25 lakh from a vehicle during checking under Chaitanyapuri police station limits. Hyderabad Police seized Rs 15 lakh during checking at Puranapool Gandhi statue, Rs 30 lakh in Shekhpet and Rs 9.3 lakh from Panchsheela X Road.
