Why did PM Modi not meet Trump even though he was in America!?

The main reason for not meeting Donald Trump or Kamala Harris during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to America was to keep India's stand neutral in American politics. India did not want any situation to arise during the US presidential election which could show a glimpse of bias. Let us tell you that India is the only country at present which has good relations with most of the countries. This is an introduction to the art of successful diplomacy. Its latest example was seen when the country's Prime Minister visited Ukraine apart from Russia.

Before Modi's US visit, presidential candidate Donald Trump had talked about meeting Modi during a rally in Michigan, but India never confirmed it. Indian officials clarified that PM Modi will not meet either of the two major political candidates (Trump and Harris). So that no message goes out that India is taking the side of any one in the US elections.

According to the report, one of the reasons behind the decision not to meet Trump was that after the "Howdy Modi" programs in 2019 and "Namaste Trump" in 2020, the perception was that India was supporting Donald Trump in the US elections, which India had to work hard to correct. However, this time India kept itself away from the election environment, like last time, and by not meeting any of the presidential candidates, tried its best to give the message that it does not want to influence the election in any way, knowingly or unknowingly.

On the other hand, both Trump and Kamala Harris were busy with their campaigns due to the presidential election, due to which they did not even get time to meet. During the Halia visit, Indian officials ensured that India's policy remained neutral and there were no signs of interference in American politics.

On the US tour, Prime Minister Modi met Nepal PM KP Oli. Apart from this, he participated in a meeting with the CEO of the American tech company. On the sidelines of the Quad summit, the PM held talks with His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait. He also met Presidents Mahmoud Abbas and Volodymyr Zelensky of war-torn countries like Palestine and Ukraine.
