Netanyahu’s Indian Surprise for Modi in Tel Aviv

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in traditional Indian attire at a dinner in Tel Aviv, sending a clear signal of warmth and respect. Iron Dome and India’s Security Plans

One of the biggest highlights of the visit is India’s interest in Israel’s Iron Dome system. Israel has formally offered to transfer Iron Dome technology to India under the Make in India initiative. This is not just about buying a system. It is about building it in India.

The proposed deal is linked to what is being called Mission Sudarshan Chakra, also known as Project Kusha. The idea is to create a multi-layered air defence shield. This system would protect Indian cities and key infrastructure from short-range rockets, mortars, and drone swarms.

India is also exploring Israel’s newer Iron Beam laser-based system. It is described as a cost-effective and fast solution against low-cost aerial threats. If both systems come together with platforms like the S-400, India could move closer to an almost impenetrable security cover by 2030.

MoUs and Expanding Cooperation

Several Memorandums of Understanding are expected to be signed during the visit. These cover economic, security, and diplomatic areas. The goal is clear. Both nations want to deepen cooperation in every major sector.

After the signing ceremony, PM Modi and Netanyahu are expected to deliver joint statements. These will outline the outcomes of their discussions and the direction of future collaboration.

A Historic Moment at the Knesset

PM Modi received a standing ovation at the Knesset soon after arriving in Tel Aviv. He became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament. This marks his second visit to Israel in a decade, after his 2017 trip.

He was also conferred the Medal of the Knesset. In his message, he said he accepted the honour with humility and gratitude. He called it a tribute to the enduring friendship between India and Israel, not just to an individual.
