Israel says Iran is ready to strike countries across West Asia if tensions keep rising. The Israeli military also confirmed that one Iranian Yak-130 fighter jet was shot down over Tehran and several missile and defence systems inside Iran were targeted. These actions are part of a military campaign called Operation Roaring Lion.

What Is Operation Roaring Lion

Israel launched Operation Roaring Lion with one clear goal. According to the Israeli Defence Forces, the mission is meant to remove what they call a serious security threat coming from Iran.

Israeli officials say the focus is on Iran’s ballistic missile program and the possibility of Iran building a nuclear weapon. They also point to Iran’s support for armed proxy groups near Israel’s borders. Those groups, they say, create constant pressure and danger for Israeli civilians.

Because of these concerns, Israel started targeting several military installations inside Iran. Missile facilities, air force bases, and naval assets have reportedly been part of the strikes.

Historic Aerial Clash Over Tehran

One of the biggest developments came during a recent air engagement. Israeli forces say their fighter jet shot down an Iranian Yakovlev Yak-130 aircraft above Tehran.

Military officials described it as a significant moment during the ongoing operation. They also confirmed that more strikes are continuing against Iranian aerial defence systems and ballistic missile infrastructure.

These actions, according to Israel, are meant to weaken Iran’s ability to launch attacks in the future.

Israel Says Iran Still a Serious Threat

Israeli officials made it clear they are not underestimating Iran’s military capability. Even while attacking missile launchers and storage locations, Israel believes Iran still has the power to cause damage.

The concern mainly comes from ballistic missiles. Iran already has a large missile inventory, and officials say the intent to use them is also there.

Israeli leaders often refer to the lessons learned from the October 7 attack, saying they can no longer ignore warning signs. Because of that, military preparations remain strong and ongoing.

US and Israel Working Together

Another important part of the operation is coordination between Israel and the United States. Officials say both countries have worked together during recent strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure.

Previous military actions had already damaged parts of Iran’s nuclear program. Israeli intelligence had earlier described that program as a “ticking time bomb”.

According to officials, earlier strikes pushed back Iran’s nuclear ambitions by several years. However, they also believe Iran has been trying to hide and strengthen parts of the program since then.

Focus on Security, Not Politics

Despite the intensity of the operation, Israeli officials say the mission is purely security-focused. They insist the objective is only to remove the military threat coming from Iran.

Questions about political change inside Iran were raised, but Israeli representatives said that is not the goal of the campaign. The operation, they say, is about preventing nuclear weapons development and reducing missile threats.

Still, the situation in West Asia is clearly becoming more tense. Military activity is increasing, statements are getting sharper, and many countries are watching closely.

For now, the conflict shows no sign of cooling down. And honestly, the entire region feels a bit on edge as events continue to unfold day by day.
