UP Weather Today: The weather in Uttar Pradesh has taken a dramatic turn in the month of April. With the activation of a western disturbance, unseasonal rainfall has continued over the past several days, impacting both daily life and agriculture.
15 Deaths in 5 Days, Weather Turns Deadly
In the last five days, around 15 people have lost their lives due to incidents of storms, rainfall, and lightning strikes. Strong winds and sudden weather changes have caused severe damage in several districts.
Most Affected Districts
According to available information, districts such as Lucknow, Barabanki, Gonda, Jaunpur, Aligarh, Agra, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, and Jhansi have been experiencing intermittent rainfall along with strong winds since morning. In some areas, wind speeds are expected to reach up to 50–60 km per hour.
Heavy Losses for Farmers
Continuous rainfall and hailstorms have worsened the situation for farmers. Harvested wheat crops have been submerged in water, standing crops have fallen, increasing the risk to production, and there is a growing threat of grain rotting and sprouting. Farmers in Aligarh, Rampur, and nearby regions have expressed serious concerns over heavy losses.
Due to rainfall, temperatures across the state have dropped by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius. While just a few days ago the mercury had touched 41°C, many districts are now experiencing conditions resembling mild cold.

10 April: Clear weather expected with strong sunshine
11 April: A new western disturbance will become active, leading to worsening weather again
Why Is the Weather Changing Like This?
According to meteorologists, this shift is due to an active western disturbance over the Afghanistan–Pakistan region, along with a cyclonic circulation formed over western Uttar Pradesh.
