Apple Launches $599 iPhone 17e and MacBook Neo to Win Budget Buyers
Apple has launched the iPhone 17e for $599 along with the iPad Air and a new MacBook Neo, aiming to attract budget buyers who want powerful Apple devices at lower prices.
Apple (PC- Social Media)
Apple just dropped a bunch of new devices, and honestly the biggest talk right now is the $599 iPhone 17e. Along with that, the company also revealed a new MacBook Neo and refreshed iPad Air models. The focus this time feels clear. Apple wants budget buyers who still want strong performance without paying those big flagship prices.
The new products were shown during media events in New York, London and Shanghai. Apple CEO Tim Cook earlier hinted that it would be a big week, and yeah… looks like he wasn’t exaggerating much.
The iPhone 17e: A Cheaper iPhone That Still Feels Powerful
The iPhone 17e is the star of the show. It starts at $599, which is about $200 cheaper than the base iPhone 17. That price difference alone will catch many eyes, specially people who want an Apple phone but hate paying flagship money.
Even though it’s cheaper, Apple didn’t exactly hold back on performance. The phone runs on the same A19 chip used in the regular iPhone 17. That means apps, games, everyday tasks, everything should run pretty smooth.
Storage also got a boost. The base model now comes with 256GB storage, double what the older 16e had. That’s a big upgrade honestly, because people store a lot more photos and videos nowadays.
The camera has been improved too. Apple added a 48-megapixel camera system, which should give sharper photos and better detail. Nothing revolutionary maybe, but definitely solid for daily photography.
Display and Charging Still Feel Premium
Even though this is a budget iPhone, Apple kept some of the good stuff. The display still uses the Super Retina screen used across the lineup. It’s slightly smaller than the standard iPhone 17 display and refresh rate is a bit lower, but most users probably won’t even notice much difference.
Durability also got attention. The device includes Apple’s Ceramic Shield 2 protection which helps against scratches and small drops.
Wireless charging fans will like this part. Apple added MagSafe with Qi2 support, which means easier and faster wireless charging experience.
The phone comes in simple colour choices. Black, white, and a light pink option.
MacBook Neo: Apple’s Most Affordable Laptop Yet
Apple also surprised many people with the MacBook Neo. This new 13-inch laptop is clearly designed for budget buyers and students.
The laptop uses the A18 Pro chip, which actually powers the iPhone 16 Pro. So even though this machine is cheaper, the chip inside is still quite powerful.
The base model offers 256GB storage and 8GB RAM. It includes two USB-C ports as well. The upgraded version with 512GB storage also adds a Touch ID sensor.
Pricing is simple. The base model starts at $599, while the upgraded version costs $699. Students and educators can get around $100 discount, which makes it even more attractive.
iPad Air Gets a Quiet but Useful Upgrade
Apple also refreshed the iPad Air lineup. These models now run on the M4 chip, which is slightly older compared to the M5 used in the iPad Pro, but still powerful enough for most tasks.
Streaming, browsing, video editing, everything should run easily on it. Apple also increased the RAM from 8GB to 12GB without raising the price, which is honestly a nice surprise.
The 11-inch iPad Air starts at $599, while the larger 13-inch version begins at $799.
Apple Clearly Chasing Budget Buyers Now
Looking at all these launches together, one thing becomes obvious. Apple is slowly pushing into the affordable tech market more aggressively.
Devices like the iPhone 17e and MacBook Neo show that the company wants to compete with cheaper Windows laptops and Chromebooks too.
For buyers, that’s not a bad thing at all. More Apple devices at lower prices usually means more options. And well, people always like options.
