Air India Ticket Relief: In view of the widespread disruption recently witnessed in air travel across the country and the increasing troubles faced by passengers, the Air India Group announced several important relief measures this past Saturday. The airline said that its aim is to ensure that no passenger is forced to pay excessive fares or suffer inconvenience during their journey, and that everyone can reach their destination comfortably.
Controlled Fares for Domestic Flights
Air India and Air India Express have fixed fares for all economy tickets on domestic flights starting from 4 December 2025. This means that despite the current crisis and chaos in flight operations, ticket prices will not suddenly increase.
According to airline officials, the automated revenue management system usually raises fares based on demand. However, considering the present situation, this system has been temporarily suspended. This decision is also in line with government directives.
No Fee for Ticket Changes or Cancellations
Offering major relief to passengers, Air India has announced that anyone who has booked tickets up to 4 December 2025 and is scheduled to travel by 15 December 2025 can change their tickets without any additional charges.
Additionally, no cancellation fee will be charged, and passengers will receive a full refund.
This facility will be available once, until 8 December 2025.
However, if a passenger opts for a new travel date where the fare is higher, only the difference in fare needs to be paid.
Additional Staff Deployed for Customer Care
To enhance passenger convenience, Air India and Air India Express have strengthened assistance through their 24×7 contact centers and travel agents.
Air India Express passengers can now change tickets through the WhatsApp chatbot “TIA”, the website, mobile app, and Facebook Messenger.
Moreover, additional staff has been deployed to reduce increasing call wait times and help manage passenger grievances.

Free Seat Upgrades and Additional Flights
The airline has also informed passengers that if there are empty seats on a flight, economy-class passengers may be upgraded at no extra cost.
In addition, to reduce congestion and improve convenience, additional flights are being operated on certain routes.
Special Concessions Will Continue
Air India and Air India Express already offer concessions to students, senior citizens, military personnel, and their dependents.
The company has clarified that these benefits will continue uninterrupted.
Passengers are advised to book tickets under these special fares through the airline’s website or mobile app. In many cases, these concessionary fares may be lower than the capped fares fixed during the current situation.
Passenger Relief Remains the Priority
Airline officials stated that under the current circumstances, their objective is to reduce the financial burden on passengers, make travel more flexible, and ensure that as many people as possible are able to reach their destinations quickly.
These steps are not just temporary relief measures but also a commitment to protect consumer interests and ensure a better travel experience.
Air India’s decision is proving to be a major relief for passengers across the country, especially at a time when delays, lack of seats, and operational disruptions have become increasingly common.
