Rajasthan banned 7 pharma firms and 40 medicines in 2025 because the samples failed quality tests under the state’s strict checking system. The government said only standard medicines will be delivered under the Chief Minister’s Free Medicine Scheme and any firm supplying failed batches will be removed from the system. This is the largest action since the creation of RMSC.

Rajasthan Takes Its Toughest Step On Medicine Quality

The Medical and Health Department in Rajasthan has been tightening rules for months now. The state wants no lax behavior in the supply of medicines, so this year the system got even more strict. Officials said the free medicine scheme is useful only when medicines are pure and safe, and this time they found batches that simply did not pass the checks. The department adopted this zero-tolerance mood because they believe the public should never face risk when taking medicines given through government hospitals.

RMSC Confirms The Biggest Ban In Its History

The Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation said seven firms failed to meet the quality standards in 2025. These firms had products that either did not match the required test results or had inconsistencies found during inspection. Earlier, RMSC had banned only 26 companies in over a decade. But in the financial year 2025–26 alone, seven firms got debarred. This shows how serious the department became this time. The state also banned forty medicines this year, which is again the highest in any financial year.

Officials Explain Why The Crackdown Was Necessary

Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar stated that smooth working of the free medicine scheme is important but nothing is more important than the quality of drugs. Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore added that the rise in banned companies this year came because the testing system got stronger and faster. The government now sends strict notices and follows complete process before taking action, which includes hearing the companies and reviewing documents.

How Rajasthan’s Quality-Testing System Works Behind The Scenes

RMSC Managing Director Pukhraj Sen explained that every medicine batch coming from suppliers is kept in quarantine first. The batch goes for testing at authorised laboratories. Only if it passes, it is released for use in hospitals through e-medicine software. When the batch fails, it is blocked immediately. In such cases, another confirmation test is done at the State Drug Testing Laboratory. Along with this, district drug control officers also pick random samples. After all testing is done and the failure is confirmed, the Disciplinary Committee handles the case. The firms are given a chance to respond, and then the decision is made to ban or penalize them.

List Of Firms Facing The Strictest Action In 2025

Five firms were banned for five years for supplying substandard or adulterated medicines. These include Arien Healthcare for Ciprofloxacin and Dexamethasone Eye/Ear Drops, Agron Remedies Pvt Ltd for Cefuroxime Axetil Tablets and Tobramycin Eye Drops, Effi Parenterals for Calcium and Vitamin D3 Tablets, Jpee Drugs for Calcium and Vitamin D3 Suspension, and Sai Parenterals Ltd for Heparin Sodium Injection. Two more firms were banned for three years for violating service rules, which are Biogenetic Drugs Pvt Ltd and Smilex Healthcare Drug Company.

Forty Medicines Removed From Supply After Test Failures

A total of forty medicines were banned from sale and marketing. These include Primaquine Tablets from Maxwell Life Sciences and Scott Edil Pharmacia, Heparin Sodium Injection and Calcium & Vitamin D3 Suspension from Yakka Pharmaceuticals, Fexofenadine Tablets from Santlife Pharmaceuticals, Levetiracetam Tablets and Clopidogrel plus Aspirin tablets from Life Max Cancer Laboratories, and Calcitriol Capsules from Titanium Technologies.

The Ban Sends A Clear Message For The Future

Rajasthan’s action shows a clear direction now. The state wants high-quality healthcare and safe medicines, and any company that fails even once will face strong action. The system has become sharper, and it looks like the state will continue this strict line through the coming years.
