Santy Sharma Supports Badshah, Urges Fans to Understand Rap Culture

Rapper Santy Sharma has backed fellow artist Badshah, amidst the rise of responses concerning the content of rap music and visual content associated with it, on social media. In his response, Sharma addressed the way the culture of hip-hop works, and that many Indian hip-hoppers misunderstand rap.
Sharma also explained the practice of referencing rivals in one’s lyrics as common within the culture of hip-hop music globally. He has stated that many rappers will refer to other artists or competitors in their lyrics through trophy symbolism and to provide fans with varied artistic expression. Sharma also stressed that the final interpretation of an artistic work is usually decided before the song’s final recording actually takes place, which can lead to misreading of lyric usage and artistic intent. While Badshah is an established and talented artist himself, Sharma explained that Badshah may have limited knowledge of a final music video representing his music.
According to his statement, Santy Sharma believes that hip hop artists in India face some of the biggest challenges related to listener ignorance about the hip-hop genre.
He said if any lyric does not fit with the way things are currently being said by someone then it is possible to change how it's said. If an artist is judged because of a misunderstanding of what rap culture is about, then that judgement isn't justified. Also, he went on Twitter to share his opinion; he also apologised if anyone was offended by what he said, but he feels his goal was just to describe
what is going on in the rap industry today.
Recently, he has been giving his opinion on many topics about society and entertainment, which has created quite a bit of discussion online. Just last week, he created debate when he made a comment about the bold posts made by actress and social media influencer Khushi Mukherjee about how such postings may have an effect on younger viewers using the internet: His statement received mixed responses from the public, with many agreeing with him and others disagreeing.
Additionally, Sharma has made statements on the title controversy of “Ghooskhor Pandat” relating to Manoj Bajpayee by stating that there should be care taken when selecting film titles that may or may not offend any social and/or cultural group and to keep entertainment content free of creating unnecessary social conflict.
Santy Sharma, who is an independent hip-hop artist known for his honest lyrics and opinions, is establishing his brand as someone who represents hip-hop talent from smaller cities across India. Born in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, he continues to play an important role in the exploding Desi Hip-Hop movement and also speaks regularly about the culture of music and current social issues.
