UPSC CSE 2025 Shock: Two Akanksha Singh Candidates Claim Rank 301
UPSC CSE 2025 result sparks controversy after two candidates named Akanksha Singh from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh both claim Rank 301. Here is what the dispute is about.
The UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025 result created confusion after two women with the same name, Akanksha Singh, both claimed Rank 301. One candidate is from Ara in Bihar and the other from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. Both say the result belongs to them and even showed documents to media. Right now, the Union Public Service Commission has not issued any official clarification yet, so the situation still unclear.
How The UPSC Result Controversy Started
The issue began soon after the results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 were announced. Normally results bring celebrations, but this time something unusual appeared.
Two candidates with the same name, Akanksha Singh, came forward claiming the same roll number and rank. The rank in question is 301. That small number suddenly became the centre of a national discussion.
One Akanksha Singh belongs to Ara in Bihar. The other Akanksha Singh comes from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh.
Both women appeared before media and said the result belongs to them. Naturally people got confused. It doesn’t happen often in such a competitive exam.
Claim Made By The Bihar Candidate
The candidate from Ara said she cleared the exam in her second attempt. She looked confident while speaking to reporters.
According to her, she studied almost eight to ten hours every day during preparation. That routine continued for months. Hard work, she said, finally paid off.
She also shared something emotional. The success, she mentioned, was her grandfather’s dream. He believed she would one day clear the civil services exam.
Her father is Brahmeshwar Singh, known as the founder of the banned militia Ranvir Sena. He was killed in 2012. Because of that background, her story quickly caught public attention.
Claim Made By The UP Candidate
The other Akanksha Singh from Ghazipur raised a serious allegation online. She posted on Facebook saying her identity and rank are being impersonated by someone else.
In the post she shared documents which she said prove her claim. These included an ID proof and an e-summon document.
Her message basically warned that someone might be using her details wrongly. That made the issue even more serious, because now the word impersonation also entered the discussion.
People started asking questions. How can two candidates claim the same rank and roll number.
UPSC Yet To Clarify The Situation
So far the Union Public Service Commission has not released any detailed explanation about the case.
Usually UPSC follows a strict verification process before final appointments. Candidates who clear the exam still go through document verification, service allocation, and background checks.
That means the final answer about this dispute will probably come during that stage.
Till then, confusion stays.
About UPSC Civil Services Examination
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is one of the toughest exams in India. Lakhs of students appear every year, but only a small number succeed.
In 2025, a total of 958 candidates were recommended for appointment to various services. These include the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Indian Foreign Service along with other central services.
The selection process is long. It includes preliminary exam, mains exam, and finally the personality test or interview.
Because the process is so strict, controversies like this rarely happen.
Why This Case Is Getting So Much Attention
The reason this story spread quickly is simple. UPSC exams already carry huge public interest.
Every year millions of students dream about clearing it. Families follow the result closely, coaching institutes analyse ranks, and social media fills with success stories.
So when a strange dispute appears, people instantly notice it.
Also both candidates presenting documents made the situation even more puzzling.
What Happens Next
Most likely the clarification will come once UPSC reviews the documents and verifies candidate records.
The commission keeps detailed data of applicants, including photographs, signatures, and identification documents submitted during application.
That system usually leaves very little space for confusion.
For now though, the Rank 301 mystery continues. Two candidates, one result, and everyone waiting for the final answer.
