White House: Suspicious package cleared, one arrested
Washington: US Secret Service has arrested one person after the suspicious package was found near the White House grounds here on Tuesday.
Both President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were inside the White House building when the package was discovered.
A statement issued by the service agency said, "We separated the individual and the package. He is now in Secret Service custody."
The White House was immediately locked down after the incident and all the media and visitors were evacuated from the North Lawn.
Snipers came into action and took their positions around the Presidential property.
"Secret Service is investigating suspicious package near White House grounds. The adjoining Roads have been closed," said the United States secret services.
