US President Joe Biden has pardoned his son for illegal possession of a gun and income tax evasion. President Biden issued a statement on December 1 and informed about this. However, this decision of Biden is being called his U-turn on his earlier promise. In which he had said that he would not use the powers of his presidency to benefit his family.

Joe Biden issued an official statement and informed about this. In his statement, President Joe Biden said, "Today, I have signed a pardon for my son Hunter. Since I took over as US President, I had said that I would not interfere in the decisions taken by the Department of Justice and I have also fulfilled my promise. But I saw that my son is being unfairly targeted and lawsuits are being filed against him. The allegations against him were politically motivated so that I could be attacked and my electoral process could be opposed." Biden further said, "I have followed a simple principle throughout my career that I should tell the American people only the truth. It is true that I have full faith in the justice system, but when I struggled with it, I felt that politics has infected this process as well. I hope the American people will understand why a father and a president took such a decision." US President Joe Biden's son Joseph Hunter Biden has been accused of tax evasion, illegal possession of weapons, misuse of government money and giving false testimony. It is noteworthy that Hunter had admitted to tax evasion and illegal possession of weapons in the Delaware court.
