UK police arrest five terror suspects from central England
London: Police have apprehended five men on suspicion of preparing, commissioning and encouraging terrorism in central England on Friday.
The suspects were arrested from locations in Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent by a team of sleuths from the counter-terrorism unit of the West Midland police department.
- Two of the men aged between 30 and 37 were detained from Stoke.
- The other three detained in Birmingham were aged 18, 24 and 28.
- A military bomb disposal team was deployed at Central Birmingham’s Lee Bank district as a precautionary measure.
