Two journalists killed by shellfire in southern Afghanistan

Kabul: Two US journalists Zabihullah Tamanna and David Gilkey were killed in Helmand province in Southern Afghanistan while travelling with the Afghan Army on Sunday.

According to the National Public Radio:

  • Their vehicle was hit by shellfire near the town of Marjah.
  • The senior vice- president at NPR, Michael Oreskes paid tribute to the photographer.
  • Michael said," David has been covering war and conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11. As a man and as a photojournalist, David brought out the humanity of all those around him.He let us see the world and each other through his eyes."
