Moscow: At least 10 people were killed and over 50 injured in a twin blasts which occurred at "Sennaya Ploschad [square]" and "Tekhnologichesky Institute" stations in Russia's St. Petersburg on Monday.

Seven stations of the metro's blue line were closed immediately after the blasts, while ambulance and fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Rescue operations were underway, the local media reported.

One of the explosions reportedly occurred in a metro car. Security agencies yet to ascertain the perpetrators, while the area has been cordoned off and a probe has been launched.

No group or organisation had taken responsibility till the reports last came here.
