New Delhi: While the China was celebrating its 95th anniversary of the ruling Communist Party, the Taiwanese warship mistakenly fired a supersonic missile towards China.

The supersonic anti-ship missile was mistakenly launched from the Kaohsiung Naval base.

“The missile was launched by operational error. The investigation is underway,” Vice-Admiral Mei Chia-hsu of the Taiwanese Navy said.

The supersonic missile, with a range of 300 kilometres, flew about 75 kilometres before going into waters off Penghu, a Taiwanese -administered island in the Taiwan Strait.

An official statement of the Defence Ministry said the missile penetrated a nearby Taiwanese fishing boat, killing its captain and injuring three crew members.
