Islamabad: In the wake of the surgical strikes carried out by India in Pakistan, the latter on Thursday summoned Gautam Bambawale – the Indian High Commissioner – citing the 'unprovoked firing' in which two Pakistan Army soldiers were killed.

“The unprovoked firing by the forces of India across the Line of Control has been condemned by Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry,” said Pakistan Foreign Office in a statement.

“The incident is a continuation of ceasefire violations committed by the neibouring country. Moreover, he (Chaudhry) conveyed that the Pakistani Armed Forces will continue to respond to these acts of aggression, befittingly,” added the statement.

It may be recalled that Indian Army carried out surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) inflicting heavy casualties. Pakistan previously denied the Indian Army’s claim of launching surgical strikes in the country.
