Islamabad: At least 23 people were killed and 30 others injured in a suicide bombing attack during Friday prayers at a mosque in Pakistan’s Mohamand tribal district.

The explosion took place near the area where Pakistan army is carrying operations against militants of Afghanistan.

Injured persons were rushed to the nearby hospitals.

As per the security sources, the two suicide bombers blew themselves in the verandah of mosque.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the attack yet.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the suicide bombing attack.

"The cowardly attacks by terrorists cannot shatter the government's resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country," read a statement from Sharif's office.
