Quake with magnitude of 7.4 hits South Atlantic Ocean

Washington: The Southern Atlantic Ocean was shaken by a quake of magnitude 7.4 on Friday, reported US Geological Survey. The quake struck at 1232 hours Indian Standard Time (IST) with an epicentre 195 miles away from a British Antarctic research station.

It had struck at the depth of 10 kilometers and was centred east-southeast of South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, stated the USGS.

There was no immediate tsunami warning.
