In fact, America has returned 297 such rare objects related to Indian culture, which were stolen and then smuggled out of the country at different times. PM Modi has praised the US President for this initiative. Let us tell you that since 2014, India has brought back 640 such heritages from different countries of the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked US President Joe Biden on the social media platform X and posted, "Cultural ties are deepening and the fight against illicit trafficking of cultural assets is getting stronger. I am very grateful to President Biden and the US government for returning 297 invaluable objects to India."
In July this year, India and the US signed their first agreement to prevent illicit trafficking of cultural assets and return antiquities to their place of origin. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X, "Preservation of heritage and culture: restoration of antiquities. The US side has facilitated the return of 297 stolen or smuggled antiquities during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US."
In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the US on a three-day visit to further strengthen the India-US comprehensive global strategic partnership. He also attended the Quad Leaders Summit organized by US President Joe Biden in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware on Saturday.
