Islamabad: Pakistani media have been highly critical of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his statement on Kashmir and asked him to desist from this kind of action. "By this statement not only has he created problems for Kashmiris but also people of Pakistan", said one of the papers.

Politician have a habit of making toll promises and his “dream” to make Kashmir a part of Pakistan should be taken in that light. “Everybody makes this kind of promise but no body has ever said how this can be achieved”, said another.

The statement should be also criticized for another reason. It will add to bitterness with India and spoil the relationship with the neighbor.

“What can a country which is facing a number of challenges offer to the people of Kashmir? Instead of capturing new areas the government should concentrate on making occupied Kashmir a model state where all Kashmiris could live happily”.

In the opinion of these papers the Kashmir issue can be solved either by war or talks. The best solution is to settle in the issue by bilateral talks. It will serve regional, national and international interests.

The papers have regretted that even the basic facilities were lacking the occupied Kashmir although the area has been under the Pak rule for 67 years.
