Islamabad: A Pakistani journalist Cyril Almeida, who is an assistant editor of Dawn newspaper, is ordered not to leave the country after his front-page story which spoke about the concern of government and civilians regarding Pakistan Army’s support to the terror groups.

“Act against militants or face international isolation, civilians tell military,” Dawn had headlined in its Thursday edition.

Saddened by the ban over him, Cyril Almeida took to Twitter and said that he has no intention of going anywhere leaving his home soil.

Terming the report as speculative, Nawaz Sharif government has rejected the report and has also ordered for strong action against those newspapers who are serving hateful stories.

"The participants were unanimous that the published story was clearly violative of universally acknowledged principles of reporting on national security issues and has risked the vital state interests through inclusion of inaccurate and misleading contents which had no relevance to actual discussion and facts," an official statement said.

It could be mentioned here that the report could boost India’s diplomatic efforts in UN.
