Washington: Pakistan, despite having been facing isolation due to the diplomatic efforts of India, has come out with a new proposal to beat the country. The new proposal is to create a body parallel to SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) and name it Greater South Asian Economic Organisation.

According to a Pak newspaper. the Dawn, the proposal has been already discussed by Pakistan officials during their recent five-day tour of the USA. The proposed body may have more than eight members which the SAARC has.

Pakistan supporter China may play a vital role in the organisation. Other members who may join include Iran and some other central Asian countries.

The postponement of the SAARC summit in Pakistan scheduled to be held in November at the instance of India might be behind the Pak's new move. India had expressed its unwillingness to participate in the summit after the Uri attack by terrorists who had come from across the border.

Supporting Indian point of view, four other countries including Afghanistan and Sri Lanka decided against participation which led to the postponement.
