UK Parliament shooting: Death toll rises to five, 40 injured

One woman dead, several injured in UK parliament shooting

London: At least five people, including a cop and a woman, have reportedly been killed while 40 others have got severely injured in the suspected terrorist attack outside the Parliament building in London on Wednesday.

The attacker, who stabbed a police official to death near the UK Parliament, has now been killed by the security forces, said the police.

The House of Commons session had been suspended and the Palace of Westminster had been put on lock down.

Speaking over the attack, the police had said that as of now they are treating it as a terror incident. The investigation has been launched and additional officers have been deployed at the shootout location.

Officials, however, said that the alleged assailant was shot outside the Parliament building by armed police.

Air ambulances have arrived Parliament Square to assist the casualties.

After the attack, British Prime Minister Theresa May has called for an emergency security meeting.
