New Delhi: The outbreak of the Omicron variant of the corona virus is increasing in different countries around the world. So far, cases of Omicron variant have been seen in 24 countries. World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that so far cases of the Omicron variant have been reported from 23 countries from five of the 6 regions of the World Health Organization.

Omicron spread in 24 Countries:

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom has also feared that this variant will spread to more countries. At the same time, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that banning international travel in view of the new Corona variant is wrong and ineffective.

Until now, Omicron was believed to have first appeared in South Africa on 24 November. Cases found in the Netherlands and some other countries suggest that the variant had reached Europe long before South Africa. This is the cause of biggest concern, because travel restrictions are being imposed on African countries. The extent to which it has reached from the countries of Europe is not yet known.

Strict Guidelines in India:

India has started strict actions. In view of Omicron, the Maharashtra government has issued its own separate guideline for international travelers. Expressing displeasure over this, the central government has asked to withdraw it immediately. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter to Maharashtra's Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Pradeep Kumar Vyas on Wednesday that the country should work on the same guidelines.

Thus, due to different guidelines, doubts can arise among people. Therefore, it would be better if the guidelines of the Union Health Ministry should be followed. Maharashtra has made travel details of the last 15 days to those coming from abroad, separate counters for checking, RT PCR test every second, fourth and seventh day for travelers coming from risk countries. Apart from this, RT PCR test has also been made mandatory for connecting flights of those coming from abroad.
